2021 Update
Exciting news--the book is live! It's been a work in progress for awhile--longer than expected, but well worth the time (I will share more about this down the road). Check out the links below and enjoy the read. I surely enjoyed the write✒
Here's the backpage description:
Book II of the Audeamus series--Human Re-engineering--builds on the sinister plot to re-engineer humans for profit and pleasure introduced in Book I. Duffin takes us down a seductive path of pathological voeurism, dastardly slights of literary malfeasance, egregious abuses of power, and unveils a plausible nightmare that could redefine what it means to be human.
Join Captain Blake and Hope Higgins on this disaster unfolding in real time, turning their dream of sailing around the world into a nightmare. A nightmare that could push this unlikely couple over the edge of their physical and psychological boundaries or lead them to vanquish an evil that's festered for centuries.
On another note, JoAnne and I are still alive😯 We've sailed roughly 500 nautical miles from La Paz to Manzanillo and have some pretty awesome adventures to share. Stay tuned for more to come and definitely click on the links below 👇👇👇for a great read!

2020 Update
With COVID 19 interrupting our lives across the world, we've decided to go virtual. We're hunkering down in La Paz, Mexico until this disaster subsides. We're exercising social distancing, which isn't difficult on a sailboat. We still have the luxury of sailing to incredible islands in the Sea of Cortez and will be posting videos on YouTube, posting blogs, and creating cool content to share with you. Considering the incredible changes happening to the world that we knew, and the new world that's developing before our eyes, we will collectively adapt--we will collectively thrive.
The Book is Live!

Located in some of the most beautiful land and seascapes around the world, this unique retreat provides a set of tools, practices, and processes to help you create your destinies, make your dreams real, and sustain those dreams long after the creative sailing retreat is over. Let your consciousness, unconsciousness, and creativity expand to be more present in the now, more connected to nature, and more aware of your body and expansive learning opportunities. Come with us and create a richer, deeper, and more fulfilling life!
Morning Ritual
“I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow…I learn by going where I have to go.”
Theodore Roethke—The Waking
Waking from the unconscious universe of sleep to the conscious world we inhabit is sacred. Your morning ritual is yours to create. You may have already created a morning ritual that works for you, perhaps there are aspects of your ritual that you want to fine tune, or you may want to create an entirely new ritual. The choice is yours and you have many ways to begin your day. We invite you to relax into consciousness. There will be coffee, tea, and a deli-style breakfast available throughout the morning, you can do self-guided meditation, make a leisurely notebook entry, perhaps take a dip in the crystal-clear water, stretch, exercise, do yoga, or practice Qigong. This ritual is for you to get those physical and creative juices flowing. Not all rituals are the same and should be tailored to you. Later in the morning, we will facilitate a round-table dialogue to kick around your ideas, insights, questions, struggles, epiphanies, and if you have a morning ritual that works well for you, definitely share!
Afternoon Action
Afternoons we have a variety of experiences from which to develop our creative play and practice. Among the many possibilities--sailing, sunbathing, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, visiting the shore, napping, doing nothing at all, enjoying a healthy lunch--you will also be playing with your goals and dreams. The experiences you choose are your choice. Practice is the essence of creating the life you want to live that will last well beyond this creative sailing retreat.
Evening Dialogue
We relax into the evening with a collaborative dinner and dialogue. You have the chance to get to know others more deeply and share experiences, share recipes and cooking tips, make connections, reconnect with friends and family that change lives. These dialogues help us dig more deeply into our dreams, goals, desires, and focus of our notebooks. In these dialogues we suspend judgment, ask clarifying questions to get better understandings, and ask more probing questions to dig more deeply to learn from one another and come to a mutual understanding of where we are, what we need to do, and where we are heading.
We end the day with an evening write in our notebooks, reflect on the day, and enjoy self-guided meditation before we fall asleep for the best sleep ever. Join us for the experience of your life!
